These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your purchase and use of Feather Dictation, a Windows desktop application for voice-to-text dictation and translation. By purchasing a license or using the application, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Feather Dictation converts your speech to text and optionally translates it, using third-party AI services (OpenAI Whisper for transcription, DeepL for translation). An internet connection is required — the app does not work offline.

2. License

When you complete the one-time entry purchase, you receive a license key with a starting balance of usage credits (audio time and translation characters). Your license grants you a personal, non-transferable right to use the application on your own computer(s).

You may not:

Share, sell, or publish your license key
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the application's source code
Use the service to violate any law or the rights of others
Attempt to bypass usage limits or interfere with our servers

3. Credits

Your entry purchase includes a starting balance of audio seconds and translation characters.
Additional credit packs can be purchased at any time. Credits are additive — they never expire or reset, and new purchases add to your existing balance.
When your balance reaches zero, the relevant feature stops working until you purchase more credits.
Credits are tied to your license key and have no cash value outside the service.

4. Keep Your License Key Safe

Your license key is how the service identifies you. Anyone with your key can use your credits. Treat it like a password. If you believe your key has been compromised, contact us and we can issue a replacement key with your remaining balance.

5. Pricing and Changes

Prices, credit amounts, and pack contents are shown at the time of purchase and may change for future purchases. Changes never reduce credits you have already purchased.

6. Availability

We aim to keep the service available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The app depends on third-party providers (OpenAI, DeepL, Stripe, and our hosting provider), and outages on their side may temporarily affect functionality. Scheduled maintenance or updates may cause brief interruptions.

7. Refunds

Refunds are handled according to our Refund Policy.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." Transcription and translation are performed by AI systems and may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing any text produced by the application before relying on it. We make no warranty that the service will be error-free, accurate, or fit for a particular purpose.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits or lost data.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate a license that violates these Terms (for example, key sharing at scale, abuse of our servers, or fraudulent payment). Where reasonable, we will contact you first.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
